First Graveyards Tour Is Great Success
The Cemetery Tour of October 23 drew seventeen participants who toured three graveyard sites:
- at the crest of the Island in Bay St. Lawrence, where a chapel used by both Catholics and
Protestants
once stood, with burial grounds for each denomination;
- along the Money Point Road in the Bay at the Pioneer MacIntosh Cemetery, now overgrown with grass and small trees so that the gravestones are nearly all hidden.
- across the street from the North Harbour School, where a single stone inside a cast iron fence marks the graves of members of the John H. Gwinn family
Several folks announced intentions of clearing out the Pioneer Cemetery, and everyone looks forward to more cemetery tours.

Fund Drive Reaches $32,000!
The Museum's Fund Drive thermometer, on display in the museum's parking lot, is looking hotter every week. Recently, it passed the $30,000 mark. The Museum is deeply grateful to all donors to date, and is hopeful that others will join to push the drive over the top.
Funds are needed for some major facilities upgrades. For example, a new septic system and well are desperately needed, and are top priorities.
Contributions should be sent to the North Highlands Community Organization, Box 3 Unit 1, Dingwall, NS B0C 1G0. Tax receipts will be issued for all gifts of $25 or more.
Thank You!
